Helping new arrivals get their head around Depth Psychology in the Digital Age
Let’s begin:
New here? This is a short post to get you started.
I’m Aaron, a psychotherapist, author, and writer of this newsletter. I write about what technology is doing to the psyche - how technology mediates ourselves and our relationships to each other and the world. This is a place for nuance, not moral panics. My aim is to think more deeply about what AI, algorithms and the way we use tech is doing to attention, relationships, and the very sense of who we are. The approach is interdisciplinary, the lens is psychoanalytic, and the language I will use can be understood by any curious reader - you do not have to be an expert.
Three good places to begin:
Prompting Before Thinking? — on what we lose when we outsource our inner dialogue to AI.
The Algorithmic Self — how machines that reflect us back are quietly reshaping identity.
AI Assistants: Faithful Friends or Charismatic Psychopaths? — the diagnostic case for why your friendly neighbourhood chatbot fits the profile of a psychopath.
